Johnnie bets his luck on clovers and rabbit’s feet,
But she never does him right.
He’s just another deadbeat walkin’ down a dead end street,
Another moth drawn towards the light.

And as he sleeps his life plays in reverse.
So when he wakes his tabs are reimbursed.

He gets up out of bed and brews himself a cup or two,
So he can do it all again.
He’s the kinda guy who cleans up well by half past noon,
Like a snake who’s shed his skin.

And as he walks he smiles careless and free,
But every night his mind goes out to sea.

Johnnie hit the town but it only up and hit him back,
And his vision fades to black.
It seems like only time will tell if he will ever come back,
Cause his mind’s knocked off its track.
